Do You Have 8 Minutes?

We live in a world where everyone feels busy. Our calendars are packed, our phones are constantly buzzing, and it can feel like there’s never enough time in the day. But here’s the truth: sometimes, all it takes to make a difference in someone’s life is eight minutes.
Eight minutes to call a friend and really ask, “How are you doing?” Eight minutes to sit with someone who seems a little off and just listen. Eight minutes to send a message of encouragement that says, “You’re not alone.”
Mental health challenges often hide behind smiles and casual “I’m fine” replies. Too often, people suffer quietly, unsure of how or when to reach out. That’s why it matters so much when we make the first move. You don’t have to fix anyone’s problems or have all the right words. Your presence, your listening ear, and your willingness to be there can bring incredible comfort.
Think about it, what if the eight minutes you gave today prevented someone you love from feeling forgotten? What if it reminded them that they matter, that they are seen, and that someone cares?
So, ask yourself: Do you have eight minutes? Chances are, you do. Use them wisely. Use them kindly. They may be the most powerful eight minutes of your day, and someone else’s.
